DIY Making Valentine’s Day that extra bit special!

It’s all in the details. Here are some easy last minute D.I.Y.’s to make today’s Valentine’s Day extra special. They all take only a few minutes to do and you can use papers that you happen to have on reach!

If you bought a book to give as a gift, don’t just wrap it up with gift-paper as usual, but make your own cover! It’s simple and only takes few minutes. You can use any left over paper you have laying around the house that is big enough to cover the book. I used Color STYLE leather in red for the cover – the paper’s leather-like surface makes the book look even more precious. Then I made a simple band around the book to wish Happy Valentine’s Day.

How to:
Take the paper and fold it around the books cover. Make sure there is a few extra centimeters that you can fold under the cover to keep it in place. Then cut a string of paper the same length and a few centimeters wide, write your wishes on it, and fold it on top of the cover, I even cut a small heart on the side of the book. And your done!

Make a small booklet or notebook you can fill up with photographs or little notes that tell how much the other one means to you. You can fill it up with poems, stories or anything you can think of! Once again you can use any papers you happen to have and decide the size according to that. I used Gmund Stone white 250g/m2 for the pages and a sturdy paper for the back cover. I printed the initials (use a font that represents you as a couple) on a pink heart (IQ color 160g/m2) and used a brown string to tie the booklet together and a ribbon to finish up the look! Papers are available at Europapier.

How to:
Cut the paper into the size you want the booklet to be (if using photographs, remember to measure them). Mine was 17cm x 11cm. When you have enough pages, punch holes into the left side of the pages and tie them together with a nice piece of string. Print the initials or names on a piece of paper in the color of your choosing, and cut them into the shape of a heart. Glue the heart on the front page and finish up the look with more decorations or a ribbon as I did. Make it look personal and cute!

Remember, you can bring a touch of Valentine to the smallest of things! If preparing breakfast, lunch or dinner, decorate the table accordingly. At work you might want to cheer up a co-worker? It takes only a minute to make cute personal heart tea-bag labels, which will bring a smile to anyones face. Just take the old existing labels off the bags, cut hearts out of the paper of your choosing and staple them to the string of the bag!
