Cut it, Fold it, Glue it, Sew it – Haut Couture Made of Paper

Just before the fashion shows are starting in New York, London, Milan and Paris, paper manufacturer Mondi launches its new haute couture Color Copy campaign by Viennese agency Draftfcb.

Mondi and Daftfcb asked Austrian design students from the University of Art and Design in Linz in cooperation with the Hetzendorf fashion school in Vienna to design haute-couture fashion made from Color Copy, Mondi’s color laser paper.

To realize their designs the students used various grammages and textures of the paper which they then cut, tore apart, folded, crumpled, glued, sewed, soaked in water, cooked and even baked. If you are curious to see how they did it, it is really worth watching the making of video!

In the video you can also see the photoshooting of the six best final designs. The designs are quite diverse – some very sexy, some more futuristic – and definitely live up to the word haute couture. My favorite design is the one with the hot pants and what looks like a very minimalistic bra plus a small headpiece. Photographer Mark Glasser captured the beautiful white paper dresses perfectly – looking at the photos it is unbelievable what you can make from paper!

All the pictures from the photoshooting are featured in the brand new Color Copy calendar for 2013. We are raffling off 5 pieces of the calendar – just like our post on facebook and the calendar can be yours. You should also take part in the campaign’s online game where you can win trips to Milan, Paris and New York. We wish you good luck!
