Playing Arts

Whenever going away with a bunch of friends one of us always brings a deck of cards. This hasn’t changed since I was a kid. My favorite card has always been the beautiful queen of hearts. A very special deck of playing cards was developed for the Playing Arts project: From the two of clubs to the ace of spades, each card in this deck was individually designed by one of 55 chosen international artists.

Following the motto »when you’re playing poker, it’s the cards that matter«, the idea of Playing Arts was to create a deck of unique poker cards, each one designed by a different illustrator, designer or artist showing his own individual style and technique. The result is a deck of 55 beautifully designed cards where it is hard to choose your favorite one. I personally love Peter Tarka‘s Two of Hearts, Peter Olschinsky‘s Four of Clubs, Aitch’s Five of Hearts, Hey’s Ten of Clubs and of course Conrad Roset’s Queen of Hearts. Which are your favorites?

You can purchase the deck of cards via playingarts, where you can also learn more about the artists involved. A second deck is already in the making. You can check it out online as well as each day a new card is unveiled.
