Inspiration & Education at the Gmund Brand Event

On March 8th paper professionals, designers, and printers alike gathered together at Designforum Vienna, in the heart of the city, to marvel over the beautiful paper collections by Gmund. And judging by peoples reactions and amount of intrigued faces through-out the evening, it was a success, not to mention how irresistible the paper samples of the new collections seemed to be to the visitors. I know I wasn’t the only one who left with pockets full of fresh-off-the mill paper – and I’m not ashamed to admit it!

Along with Gmunds Annemarie Kloo’s speech, which was as entertaining as it was educational, rubbing shoulders with fellow paper enthusiasts created some very interesting and thoughtful conversations. So besides falling head over heels in love with the glitz explosion of the Gmund Gold collection as well as the masterfully replicated natural patterns of the Gmund Wood collection, I learned what pure, unprocessed paper feels like, and how the visual and tactile experiences of paper guide us in the search for that perfect paper for any specific project. Also Gmund Urban, Gmund Colors, Gmund Heather, Gmund No Color No Bleach, Gmund Heidi, Gmund Cotton, Lakepaper Extra and Lakepaper Blocker collections were on show.

Running since 1829, Gmund has produced beautiful papers at their mill at lake Tegernsee in Southers Germany. Starting with fine handmade papers, they now have an innovative paper range consisting of more than 25 different collections, available in over 70 countries across the globe – read more here.
