A Ceramic Brand SHUR’s Visual Identity Combines Classical With Contemporary

Contemporary visual identity for SHUR, a personal brand of a ceramic artist Oleksandra Kurylo, by Ukrainian designer Oleksandr Lykhohrai. Given the task to create both the name and the visual identity, Lykhohrai created a minimal, modern concept, which links to the past.

The thoughtful color palette is made of calm, natural colors – blue to emphasize the simplicity and dark green to underline its eco-friendliness and natural origin. The main source of inspiration for the typography comes from Renaissance, with a strict and discreet serif typeface boldly combined with a contemporary grotesque. It describes SHUR’s philosophy; classical forms and techniques redefined in contemporary style. The handmade, back-to-basics ideology was also utilized in creating the photographs supporting the visual identity with an analog camera, further communicating the idea of naturalness and the uniqueness of each product.
