The magnificent Wiener Ringstraße is a grand circular boulevard surrounding the historic 1st district of Vienna, our hometown, as well as the stunning location of the famous five-star hotel Ritz-Carlton – and its new steakhouse restaurant Dstrikt. The restaurant is all about the best cuts of beef and serving a first-class culinary experience, which includes an incredibly luxurious and though-out setting, counting the visual identity and packaging materials representing the brand. Designed by Grund, a local creative studio founded by Britta Fuchs and Marie Zieger.
It’s all about the quality and not quantity in this concept
Following and honoring the restaurant’s concept of utilizing different quality cuts of meat, the branding uses the marbling texture of meat and shape of the steaks in an abstract way to create a pattern for various touchpoints throughout the visual identity, partially refining printed matter with elegant hot-foil finishes. The illustration work is by non-other than Marion Kamper, whose work we’ve featured before here.

The crisp, minimalist look stands for the essence of the restaurant’s brand: steaks of the highest quality. It’s all about the quality and not quantity in this concept. Relying on minimal elements and simple, almost bare execution, what’s left behind is a surprisingly exquisite experience that highlights what’s important – and leaves the rest of it off the plate. With a simple black, white, and forest green color scheme, combined with the hand-drawn marbling pattern, the Dstrikt’s visual identity feels expressive and tasteful, in just the right ways. The premium dining experience is echoed in the contemporary typographic system, which is a memorable component of the concept. The type combination represents the upscale feel of the restaurant and expertise on all levels.
