Graphic Visions Of The Future By Cityabyss

Beata Szczecinska, Polish artist, illustrator, and graphic designer better known as Cityabyss, creates mixed-media work inspired by contemporary landscapes, construction sites, machinery, and the confliction emotions they bring; loneliness, alienation, overwhelm, anxiety, unstable human relationships, lack of closeness and security. With a good understanding of contemporary fashion culture and design trends, Cityabyss creates graphic visions of the future. “My stories aren’t literal, I’m trying to tell them in a subtle way. Another thing I care about is the visual effect of elegance and glamour. I like to work with high contrasts as much as I like bold and fresh looking designs”, she explains.

She works for an impressive range of international clients from magazines and editorials, advertising and publishing to fashion industry. Efficiently moving across a variety of medias, techniques, and disciplines including illustration, web design and visual identity, she also produces personal work in form of limited edition prints. Playing with contrasts, proportions, and forms, Cityabyss’ work is heavily reliant on the creation process, as she describes: “To start a new work is hell, but the reward of solving something is like a drug”.
