The Incanto Black Branding & Packaging Shows The Enchanting Power of Wine

The Incanto Wine by the Medi Valley Winery is an elite wine range from Bulgaria that consists of four wines, with the “top one” simply dubbed “Black”. The Incanto Black is special because its production depends on the quality of grapes grown, as the wine only goes into production if the grapes are sweet enough in each particular year. With a subpar harvest, the winery doesn’t produce it – making it a true rarety to cherish.

For such a precious product, unique and stylish branding and packaging was a must. This task was given to no other than Jordan Jelev aka The Labelmaker, Bulgaria’s top designer when it comes to creating elegant and imaginative visual identities for beverage products. Only the best for the best.

The Labelmaker brings the magic of the wine to the label, showcasing the enchanting power of the Incanto Black

Having a personal preference for the Incanto wines, The Labelmaker wanted to express this in the design. “The word Incanto is about something abstract from our life but I wanted to associate it with a real object in my wine label design. It took me a long time to understand that in fact, Incanto is all a story of wine and magic – the enchanting power of wine. This is how the magic wand appeared in my work”, the designer writes. Combining an illustration of a magic wand with a rough brush stroke in the background to express the movement of the wand, the design illustrates the act of magic happening.

The Incanto Black is a special blend between French sorts like Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and some typical endemic sorts of Bulgarian wines like Mavrud, Rubin, Melnik 55, the darkest sorts of red grapes, which give the wine its color and name, as well as inspiration for its packaging – the deepest, darkest black. The magnificent black packaging by Luxpac, Bulgaria’s leading luxury packaging producer, echoes the feel of the labels, replicating the contemporary logotype in the same font in varnish on top. Black Bowston 110 gsm paper was used for the packaging.
