Lukas Strobl’s Lust Wine Packaging By Studio Grund Wins The Red Dot Award

Viennese creative Studio Grund, run by Britta Fuchs and Marie Zieger (previously here) creates engaging branding and packaging concepts for clients of all sizes. One of their latest projects, a collaboration with another Viennese marketing agency stroblbinder, took the creative duo on a journey to create a compelling branding and packaging concept for an Austrian winemaker Lukas Strobl – which was recently awarded the coveted Red Dot Award.

Inspired by the long-gone days when the seashore’s reached to the hills around Vienna, and how the agent and modern worlds collide in the wine as well as on the design of the labels

“When grapes dream, waves crash at their roots. Like back then, when the sea still reached into the Weinviertel – and Wagram was still called Wogenrain” (which means something like “sea shore). This story served as the basis and back story for the design and identity of Lukas Strobl’s wines. Each wine is named after distant beaches, underlining the unique character of the wines: Reynisfjara offers inspiration as a strong Roter Veltliner, Ureki is a natural wine inspired by its origin in Georgia, and Elafonisi, shows howwhere light loess (sediment) and Hellas’ sand are combined in a Grüner Veltliner.

When grapes dream, waves crash at their roots. Like back then, when the sea still reached into the Weinviertel – and Wagram was still called “Wogenrain” (meansing something like “sea shore”).

The beautiful grapevines, foliage, and loess motives on the labels represent the Lower Austrian vineyards where the Lust wine is made. Cast in silhouette-like shells, snails, and corals, the two worlds merge with each other on paper, which was chosen for their specific colors and pigments,  reminiscent of fine grains of sand. and The designs tell stories of longing for faraway places, the joy of traveling, and the memories of it all. The thoughtful concept inspires new memories to be made while remembering where we all came from. Each detail, from typography to the paper choices carefully considered, gives the Lukas Strobl Lust wines a stunning coat of armor to carry.
