The “Eruptionswinzer” (“eruption winemakers” in eng.) is a collective of six winemakers from the Styrian volcanic region who come together to create complex and distinctive wines each year. The vines in the unique Styrian region grow on volcanic soil, which gives the wine a special note. And a special note in a special wine, from a special region, demands, a special visual identity.
Special identity for a special wine from a special place
Anna Haury, a graphic designer and illustrator hailing from Graz, Austria, was tasked to developed and propose a unique, or shall I say – special – identity concept for the Eruptionwinzer. The proposed concept which includes both art direction and graphic design by Haury is a stunning whole that effortlessly combines both classic and contemporary elements while packing a punch in both content and style.
The concept which includes both art direction and the graphic design by Haury is a stunning whole that effortlessly combines both classic and contemporary elements while honoring tradition with a touch of lightness and humor.
The concept centers around the visualization of an erupting star in various stages, representing the rare surroundings and the environment where the wine is made but also the high quality, “star rated” wine. Imagines to be implemented on dark, earthy-toned green reminiscent of the Austrian woodlands, with copper orange details and outstanding serif typography, the overall feel and style is pleasantly inviting and glamorous.
As part of the concept, Haury also created a promotional book titled “Eruptionsbible”, that narrates the story behind the winemakers, how they came together, and what exactly makes their wine and their vineyards so special. Follow Anna Haury on Instagram to find more design inspiration.
