Posterlad: Taking Over Our Walls With Abstract Shapes & Vivid Color

PosterLad is something that started off as a way to blast off some creative steam between client work for Czech designer Vratislav Pecka, has turned into an awarded art poster project loved by thousands. Believing that a “poster does not have to always necessarily promote some event or product”, instead Pecka uses the medium as a space for expressing his artistic ideas. Abstract shapes, geometric patterns, vivid colors, and bold typography is spiced with a good dose of 90s nostalgia and influence from the Bauhaus movement – a recipe proven to be captivating and visually pleasing for the eyes of many – us included.

Simplicity and vivid colors – these are the things all posters by PosterLad have in common

The PosterLad project began in 2016 and has since then become the creative’s main focus. Swiftly gaining popularity online, the project won the Silver A’Design Award in 2019 as well as the German Design Award in 2020, as Pecka has been designing a new poster almost every day since the beginning of the project. With a constantly evolving style, you can see the various stages of interest and influence the artist has gone through as you browse the posters done over the years. Ranging from fairly minimalistic to more intricate in style, not only does the abstract shapes evolve from poster to poster, it’s mind-blowing how the designer manages to re-invent simple shapes with each poster designed while remaining within a distinct visual aesthetic.

Designs on PosterLad posters are split into various categories: popular, mosaic, minimalist, plants, VHS, organic, while you can also browse the posters through color variations. All posters are giclée printed on a premium matter, durable and acid-free 192 gsm paper – which is known to be museum quality.
