Each paper plant sculpture is handcrafted, while each style is unique with its own intricate details and color palettes. Every leaf is made with hand-cut layers of artisan quality paper before being delicately and skillfully assembled. Formally working as a set designer, during the 2020 lockdown in London, Byrne wanted “to bring that vibrance and atmosphere into my own home”
Brazen Botany came to life during the 2020 lockdown when Byrne, who formally works as a set designer in London creating ad campaigns and window displays for luxury brands, felt her home paled in comparison with her colorful and bustling life as a designer. “I wanted to bring that vibrance and atmosphere into my own home, but all my previous attempts with plant parenting had ended in failure. This became my problem to solve as I endeavored into creating something everlasting”, Byrne writes about the beginning of the project.
