As the European countries are slowly lifting restrictions and cultural scenes are opening up, we are betting you, our readers are hungry for some good doses of culture and design. And one such wonderful must-see is right here in Vienna, where the fourth edition of the Vienna Biennale is opening its doors today!

PLANET LOVE means a fundamentally new relationship between people and planet, which aims at using the Earth’s resources considerately rather than maximizing their exploitation.

Taking place every two years, The Vienna Biennale is the first event of its kind to combine art, design, and architecture, with the aim of generating creative ideas and artistic projects to help improve the world. The VIENNA BIENNALE FOR CHANGE 2021 with its title “PLANET LOVE. Climate Care” in the Digital Age will open on 27 May 2021 and will run until 3rd of October.

With its motto PLANET LOVE the VIENNA BIENNALE FOR CHANGE 2021 is dedicated to the greatest challenge of our digital age: climate care. PLANET LOVE means a fundamentally new relationship between people and planet, which aims at using the Earth’s resources considerately rather than maximizing their exploitation, and whose approach is characterized by humility, respect, and appreciation of its biological diversity and beauty. Climate care is considered a central aspect of PLANET LOVE and goes far beyond decarbonizing the economy and society: it encompasses the question of how we can build a sustainable foundation for our relationship to the Earth and always involves a social dimension.

And if you get the chance to get your hands on a printed guide from MAK Wien, you can observe that the paper was chosen for it – Impact from Europapier Group – fits perfectly in line with the theme of the festival. A CO2-neutral paper made entirely from recycled fibers, Impact impresses with its incredible whiteness and particular high opacity.

Please remember that in order to maintain the safety of participants, some exhibitions will have assigned 15 minutes slots when you can begin taking the tour. Make sure to read all details about what you plan to visit in the calendar of events.  For those who are still considering whether to attend physical events, please know that today at 6:30pm you can take part in the Online Opening VIENNA BIENNALE FOR CHANGE 2021, to get a better feel about the festival.

The event has a mighty goal: to fire our imaginations, promote the vision of ecosocially sustainable societies and economies, and offer innovative ideas and solutions: to lessen the climate crisis, to protect ecosystems, to maintain biodiversity and to learn how to use digital technologies in the benefit of the environment. It wants not only to make us stop and think about these issues, but also aims to turn each participant into an action-taking, inspiring individual of society.
