Laser-cut Menus For The Element Bar & Restaurant

These laser-cut menus, specially designed and made for the Element Bar & Restaurant in Brno, Czechia, are the handiwork of Kadílna. Kadílna is a local creative studio specializing in illustration, graphic design, branding, and web design. They were tasked to create uniquely styled food and beverage menus for Element, to fit the bar & restaurant’s trendy, industrial-style atmosphere.

Europapier Group’s Sumo Black & Kraft used for unique laser-cut menu designs

Kadílna came up with an idea to replicate the Element type logo and the accompanying icons, which represent fire, water, earth, and air, as a cut-out on the cover of the menus. They managed to do this with laser-cutting, and cleverly utilizes the actual cut-out pieces on an inner page – to mirror both negative and positive versions of the logo. While the final menu book is tied together with a bookbinder cloth. Each menu was hand-crafted.

For such a special design and technique, a specific paper was required. “For our project, we used the Sumo Black 1,5 mm and Sumo Kraft 1 mm paper”, Kadílna explains. “We chose this paper especially for making this menu for restaurant and bar Element because of its good quality and suitable characteristics”.
