Academy of Fine Arts Gdańsk graduate, artist, and illustrator Justyna Hołubowska-Chrząszczak creates digital paintings and collages inspired by the beauty of nature of the world. In contrast to her youthful illustrations, her collage work has a surreal, delicate aesthetic – similar to dreamscapes. Combining two different illustrative styles, Hołubowska-Chrząszczak creates dramatic scenes between characters, often in an embrace.
Despite the characters heads being replaced by vintage-style floral illustrations, the human figures and their feelings are recognizable in the mood or setting. Their headless-state emphasizes the dramatic tension of the position in which they are presented. Hołubowska-Chrząszczak’s work is characterized by poster and illustration aesthetics. The beautiful, decorative plant motives complete the compositions and appear in varied color ranges: from more neutral tones to widely intensive hues.
