OGV Design Studio is an art and design practice focused on visual communication and strategic design founded by Serbian graphic designer Ognjen Gligorijevic, who currently works between Niš, Serbia, and Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Using strategic direction and design to make contemporary solutions, Gligorijevic’s practice moves effortlessly between the commercial and artistic world, with a great pass for working within the cultural field. Gligorijevic’s latest project is an intriguing exploration for typographic solutions, compressed between two covers – and the pages between.
The creation of the book “In Search for Typographic Solutions” let the designer on a journey of self-exploration
The publication “In Search for Typographic Solutions” was created during the COVID-19 Pandemic by Gligorijević, as the works showcased in the title spawn from 2020 to 2021. The book showcases 27 works designed during the author’s period of typographic exploration, consisting of three chapters: Typography, Publication Design, and Poster Design. Gligorijević’s original intention with this book is to inspire other designers and creatives to be true to themselves – even through the toughest of times.
…my main aspiration is to encourage other designers to go one step further and do the things they are scared of doing. I believe this is how we find our purpose because the only way to find something is to search for it.
“After the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, I embarked on an adventure to explore typography more profoundly. This inquiry is what kept me inspired during my hard times in quarantine. Whilst searching for typographic solutions, I also underwent a self-explorative journey. I introspectively discovered myself and confronted both my raw side and the side which I was afraid to face”, Gligorijević says. The Typography chapter in the book is “in a way a visual representation of that journey”, the author continues. “It reflects my random thoughts and the music I was listening to while making the typeface.”
While the creation process and the book that came out of it, was an important journey to self-discovery for Gligorijević himself, the creative says “my main aspiration is to encourage other designers to go one step further and do the things they are scared of doing. I believe this is how we find our purpose because the only way to find something is to search for it”. The creative strongly encourage others to take the time as well and begin the search.
