Owen Gildersleeve Creates Plaufyl and Brightly Colored Layered Paper Works

London-based award-winning artist Owen Gildersleeve is known for his stunningly colorful handcrafted illustrations and set designs. Gildersleeve’s style, which he has developed over his 10-year career, brings graphic designs to life through carefully hand-cut layers and playful use of light and shadow. With an array of international clients under his belt, that range from intricate paper illustrations and animations, to large-scale sets, window displays, and installations.

Besides his commercial projects, Gildersleeve explores ideas and themes of his own, creating new bodies of work for shows and exhibitions, and collaborating with other artists. Additionally to his successful career as a paper illustrator and artist, his first book Paper Cut was published in 2014. The book celebrates the skilled creative practices of 25 leading papercraft artists from around the world through a series of in-depth interviews carried out by the artist over the course of a year. Obviously extremely passionate about his craft, Gildersleeve’s work has been described as meticulous, communicative, and uplifting, all characteristics evident in his work.
